Summer Garden Party Wedding — Kuba & Courtney

Summer Garden Party Wedding at the Capitol in Topeka, KS

You’re invited to our “Garden Party Themed wedding.” - their unique vision for their intimate Summer wedding. Honestly, part of the beauty of a garden party theme is that it’s almost a “less-is-more” type of vibe. It’s not about all the grand decor or fixtures. But more about those bright sun dresses and colorful floral arrangements. Beyond that, find an outdoor setting and you’re good to go!

After their reception on the lawn we snuck away for some sunset photo time at the Kansas State Capitol building in downtown Topeka. I always encourage having ample time for sunset photos for a couple reasons.

It’s the first time the two of you get to be on your own, in the stillness, away from the crowds as husband and wife. Soak it up. And chances are, these are some of the photos you will be printing and hanging on your walls. So we don’t rush it so we can get plenty. Don’t worry though, I help all my couples who book their wedding with me, create a custom timeline that organizes the day according to their specific priorities.

And not to mention it’s the time of day when we’re all just tired enough that the goofiness starts to show a little. Such a fun time.

Before I ramble on too much, let me share a little from the bride’s perspective…

words from Courtney

What was the most memorable or funniest moment of your wedding day?

“Most memorable was probably the after party once things got moving and everybody busted out their dance moves!”

What did you love about the locations you chose?

“I love that we get to still visit/see where we got married and had our after party whenever we want! Being married at our church was so great because every Sunday we get to see the alter where we got married, we get to see the trees that we said our vows under, and we get to be in the courtyard where all of our family and friends ate dinner and played games.”

Were there any unexpected surprises or touching gestures that made your day even more special?

“We definitely did NOT know about the sparkles at the afterparty when we arrived!! total surprise!!”

Looking back on your wedding photos, is there a particular image or series of images that has special significance, and if so, what makes it so meaningful to you?

“One of my fave photos is the one of us hugging after saying our vows. It's just so tender and makes my heart so warm and happy. Also the photos of people opening up their letters and seeing their reactions!!”

What advice would you give to future couples who are getting married?

“I think my biggest advice is to just get married! If you want to make a big spectacle out of your wedding go for it, but don't feel pressured! Keep it small, keep it quaint, keep it personal to who you and your spouse are. Set up your marriage for success by putting in more work in your relationship prior rather than the wedding details.”
